I installed Windows 7 a few weeks ago and as per usual when setting up from scratch, ran Windows Update to get all the latest and greatest. I blindly (foolishly) went to “optional updates” and just checked the the first checkbox at the top of the page and then let the whole thing run. Bad idea.
Problem: I had unintentionally selected all the extra language packs and only noticed it when I realized that it was taking way longer then usual to install the updates.
Not actually knowing how to use any of the extra languages, I figured I’d simply cancel the update and then remove them using “Programs and Features” from the Control Panel. So I run “Programs and Features” and select the “View installed updates” option (as I had installed the language packs through Windows Update, this is where I thought I’d find them).
Lo and behold, no extra languages. Hmmm…
